Shon Christy Joins LuMind Foundation as Newest Board Member

MARLBORO, Mass. - Aug. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- The LuMind Foundation is happy to announce that Ohio resident Shon Christy has joined our Board of Directors. Christy has been with LuMind Foundation as an active committee member and the Foundation is pleased he accepted a leadership role in the organization.

“Shon played a large role in our rebranding from the Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation, DSRTF, to LuMind Foundation,” said Carolyn Cronin, executive director of the LuMind Foundation. “His expertise helped us spread the word about our new name and he has shaped our communications strategy going forward.”

A social media and marketing expert, Christy recently launched Focal Point Social Media (http://focalpointsocialmedia.com/), a marketing firm concentrating solely on developing and implementing social media programs that deliver the highest return on investment for clients. Christy will be leading Focal Point’s extensive marketing portfolio including international and local companies in the medical, professional services, municipalities, manufacturing, retail and restaurant industries. His work has been featured in Inside Business; Smart Business; the Akron Beacon Journal; and the Young Professional Roadmap.

Christy is active in the Down syndrome community in the Ohio area and is also well connected with national Down syndrome organizations. Christy serves on the Board of Stand Up for Downs, United Disability Services and The Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs. Additionally, he launched Beckett’s Buddies, a fundraising group to support those with Down syndrome in honor of his son Beckett, who has Down syndrome.

Christy’s interest in giving back to his community extends beyond the Down syndrome world to his own backyard in Ohio. Christy is the President of the Rotary Club of Akron and has been recognized by numerous local business and civic organizations for his accomplishments.

“Connecting families to resources is of critical importance to ensure that every person has what they need to thrive,” explained Christy. “My family benefited from services from multiple organizations so I want to make those services reach as many people as possible.”

A graduate of the University of Akron, Christy and his wife Brittany are parents to five beautiful children and are life-long residents of Ohio.
