Join an Epicurean Expedition at Riverbanks ZOOfari Sponsored by Land Rover Columbia

Sept. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- A jungle of delights is in store for folks who will attend Riverbanks ZOOfari, which is scheduled for Friday, September 26, at 7:00 pm at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Wonderful food and drink, African steel-drumming, presentations, and silent and live auctions are among the many activities to enjoy at this important fundraising event, presented by Land Rover Columbia.

"We have sponsored this event for a few years now, and we are looking forward to another great night this year," said Lucan Breedlove, General Manager of Land Rover Columbia. "We are so happy to be able to lend our support to such a great organization in our community." Land Rover Columbia will have some of its most popular vehicles on display for guests to get up close and personal with.

Along with the unique Southern-seasoned African cuisine and the chance for close encounters with zoo animals, guests will enjoy the rare opportunity to explore the Riverbanks’ African elephant habitat while the pachyderms have some time off from the exhibit yard. Other highlights of the evening include:

·      Grapes with Apes – A private wine tasting for eight inside Gorilla Base Camp, with the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at how their silverbacks spend their time when not on exhibit.

·      Zip and Sip on the Saluda – A night-time river zip for eight at Riverbanks, with hor d’oeuvres and wine on the scenic Saluda River footbridge.

·      Australian Affair – Includes an Australian-themed dinner and wine tasting for six inside the Koala Knockabout, with the opportunity of close encounters and photo ops with the koalas, wallabies, and lorikeets.

Guests will also have the chance to view scheduled animal feedings, learn more about the animals at informative presentations, and enjoy a variety of up-close animal encounters at a number of exhibits throughout the course of the evening.

The Sky-High Safari, a 4-story ropes challenge course, will also be open for climbing during the event.

The Riverbanks ZOOfari will take place come rain or come shine. Advance tickets are $50 for Riverbanks members and $60 for the general public. There will only be a limited number of tickets sold, and any remaining tickets will be available for $70 each on the day of the event.

Tickets may be purchased via the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden website, or at any Zoo and Garden ticket window. All proceeds go to support the ongoing wildlife conservation and education efforts at Riverbanks.
