NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Sept. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- “Music 4 A Cause,” a musical salute to the divas of Soul and Gospel, will feature some of Nashville's best professional musicians and vocalists as they come together to raise awareness of the challenges of childhood obesity and raise funds for Sugga Momma’s Girls Club, an organization that provides cooking classes for youngsters with an emphasis on healthy choices.  The event will take place on Sunday, September 14th at the Rutledge, 410 4th Ave. South, in downtown Nashville. Doors open at 4:30, the show begins at 5pm.

Paying tribute to Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Karen Clark-Sheard and LaShun Pace will be renown vocalist Kim Fleming who has worked with Patti LaBelle, Michael Jackson and Wynonna; gospel songstress San Franklin-Jackson, who has worked with Bishop Walter Hawkins, Donald Lawrence, the Clark Sisters and Bobby Jones; Sultry Beth Taylor, who has worked with Twinkie Clark, The Hamilton Family, Marvin and BeBe Winans; Bassist Bernard Harris, who has worked with Aaron Neville, Kirk Whalum and Mandisa; and The Hamilton Brothers, who will serve as the evening’s house band.

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month and the Department of Health is encouraging Americans to use this month to raise awareness about the obesity epidemic and show people how they can take steps toward a solution. Sugga Mommas Girls Club, an organization founded by TV producer and Music Business Consultant Marilyn Cathey, has partnered with the Hartman Park Community Center to create a unique program in Nashville that offers a healthy cooking class for kids, which utilizes fun, food education, and fitness to help change the negative habits of those most likely to be affected by obesity and obesity related diseases. Per the US Department of Health, Tennessee ranks 5th for childhood obesity in the US.

The next step for the group is a Saturday "free" lunch program called "Music and the Kitchen," where neighborhood kids come to sing and move, while enjoying a healthy home cooked lunch!

Event sponsors include InBody + InSpirit, Hollywood Meets Nashville, and Fouche’ Communications.
