Ice Industries Grenada Ice Industries Grenada (also known as Grenada Stamping) continues to take advantage of growth opportunities for their facility, more than doubling its employment in the past 10 years. A manufacturing fixture in Grenada since 1961, the company has grown from about 100 employees in 2006 to 236 employees today. The company provides resistance and robotic welding, fabrication, stamping, powder coating, and light assembly for a variety of industries. The press line-up in their 340,000 square foot facility is one of the most diverse and capable stamping, welding, and assembly operations in the South. To keep up with changing markets and to take advantage of their one-of-a-kind press, Ice Industries Grenada has prioritized investment in plant improvements, diversifying production capabilities, and employee support. Over the past three years, the company has invested more than $5 million in equipment purchases, upgrades, and retooling to handle continuing increased production demands. The company plans additional significant investment in 2014 to increase capacity in a project that will result in the creation of 50 new jobs. According to Daryl Burcham, Plant Operations Manager, Ice Industries Grenada is seeing opportunities for growth and diversification. Burcham said, “Ice Industries operates with unparalleled customer-centric values and accepts nothing less than world class Safety, Quality and Delivery of its products to their customers”. Ice Industries - Grenada supplies stamped metal parts and also assembles parts in the compressor, appliance, automotive, and solar panel markets. The company is both a Tier 1 and a Tier 2 supplier to the automotive industry, meaning that they supply automotive manufacturers directly as well as also providing parts to other companies that supply the automotive industry. “Our diversified product mix enables us to have a key position in several markets,” Burcham said. Their product mix is about 25% automotive, 25% appliance, 25% solar/green energy products, 15% HVAC, and 10% heavy truck parts. “We continue to find ways that our manufacturing process can add value to the basic production of parts for our customers,” Burcham said. “This allows us to continue to diversify and grow and strengthens our position in the marketplace.” The company’s latest additions include: the stamping and assembly of a metal office chair components for a world class producer of office furniture, which has recognized Ice Industries with their “Premier Supplier” award; and bearing assemblies for a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) solar energy solutions.
