"Behind The Lens" Bill Hebert brings you Choreography Showcase V

 
PHILADELPHIA - Sept. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- On Sunday, September 28th, Photographer Bill Hebert steps from behind his lens to bring you 5th installment of his Choreography Showcase at the Community Education Center (CEC) located at 3500 Lancaster Ave. Tickets are $15 General Admission or $12 for Dance Professionals, Students, and Seniors with ID. They can be purchased online at www.danceboxoffice.com and at the venue the day of the show.

Now in it's 5th year Bill Hebert's Choreography showcase gives dance artists another venue to show their work and have their artistic voices be heard. The showcase itself is about celebrating dance and the Philadelphia Dance community as a whole. For the 5th Anniversary Showcase, Bill will be donating all tickets sales and proceeds to the American Cancer Society to honor the memory of his father, who passed away earlier this year.

The talented artists/choreographers featured in this year's program includes Tabatha Robinson-Scott (Monarch Dance); Annmaria Mazzini (Mazzini Dance Collective - NYC); Orion Duckstein (Mazzini Dance Collective - NYC); Diane Sharp-Nachsin (SHARP Dance Company); Joe Cotler& Micah Geyer; Charles Tyson Jr. (Underground DanceWorks); Amy Elise MacMillan; Steven Vaughn (Open Category); Lauren Putty White (Putty Dance Project) and Allison Jones (Allison Jones Dance - NYC).

ABOUT BILL HEBERT

Bill Hebert is a Philadelphia based dance photographer that has photographed touring artists such as the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Doug Varone& Dancers, NederlandsDans Theater, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Camille A. Brown as well as local companies such as BalletX, Group Motion and more. As producer Bill has showcased such artists as SHARP Dance, Winged Woman Dance, kerPlunk (from NY), Dante Puleio (dancer with Limon Dance Company), Monarch Dance and numerous others.

PRESENTING ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Annmaria Mazzini (Mazzini Dance Collective)
- Annmaria Mazzini, Artistic Director of the Mazzini Dance Collective, has been active in the New York dance community for over 20 years. A native of Allentown, PA, she received her early training from Frances Evers before earning her BFA in Dance from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. Annmaria enjoyed great success as a principal dancer with the Paul Taylor Dance Company for twelve years, performing leading roles worldwide in more than 60 beloved Taylor classics. She also had the privilege of dancing with Taylor 2, Amy Marshall Dance Company, CorbinDances, DogEared Dancers, Kim Gibilisco Dances, and in works by Hernando Cortez, Sandra Stone, and Karla Wolfangle.

Ms. Mazzini's choreography celebrates the human spirit and fulfills her desire to express herself and connect with others. It has been presented Off-Broadway (Men on the Verge of a His-Panic Breakdown), at Dance New Amsterdam, the Dancers Responding to AIDS Remember Project at St. Mark's Church, Changeling at the Paul Taylor Dance Company Studio Theater, the Allentown Fringe Festival, and the SpringUP Dance Festival in Bethlehem, PA. It is also featured in award winning filmmaker John Walter's short film Pink Pony, an official selection of the 2013 Dancing for the Camera Festival at Lincoln Center. As Resident Choreographer of the American Modern Ensemble, she enjoyedcollaborating with Robert Paterson, whose music inspired the dances Company and the upcoming Playing with Angels.

Tabatha Robinson Scott (Monarch Dance Company) - director/choreographer Tabatha Robinson Scott's company based in the Lehigh Valley and now in it's 15th season has performed evening length shows at Old Christ Church Neighborhood House, the Performance Garage, Temple University's Conwell Dance Theater and in NY at Dance New Amsterdam and the Ailey Citigroup Theater.  Tabatha has also had her choreography performed by various companies including In Motion Dance Company who performed her work in London during the Olympics. Monarch's mission is to produce contemporary culturally poignant work versed in the community and the artists it supports.  Through educational residencies and performances, Monarch strives to reach new audiences, introducing them to the realm of Afro-Contemporary dance.

Diane Sharp-Nachsin (SHARP Dance Company) - SHARP dance company premiered in March 2006.  Diane's work has been selected for the: Bedfringe (UK), Chicago Fringe, Phoenix Fringe Festival, Seacoast Fringe Festival, Rochester Fringe, Cool NY Festival, Rochester Fringe, Southern Vermont Dance Festival, STEPS Performance Lab (NY), Fringe Wilmington Festival and the Philadelphia International of the Arts (PIFA), etc.

She was selected as a New Edge Mix Artist Award recipient in Philadelphia, PA and has been commissioned to set work on Mid-Atlantic Ballet 2008-2013.  She also was the first choreographer ever invited, as one of 11 artists world wide to the BAU Institute in Italy where she took part in a two-week artist residency in June 2013 and was invited for a second residency in Paros, Greece April 2014.
