By: Naaya by Moonlight Indian Canadian transplant turned New Yorker; Singh reflects her Indian roots and vast array of travels in each piece designed. Bilingual in Hindi and English, her family travelled often to India, where as a child she first encountered a certain quality of quilt - featherweight and dense, like a gently compressed cotton ball. As Singh remembers, “I went everywhere with them- sleepovers, car rides and on the plane.” As an adult, she found her friends asking for them and in turn, she would give them as gifts upon a visit from India. Singh always aspired to develop her own line of quilts. But it wasn’t until 2009 when her son, Ayaan, was born that her concept began to coagulate. (“Naaya” The current collection is available in four loveable animal motifs- giraffe, whale, elephant and owl. The line includes soft slightly crib-oversized reversible organic quilts that are filled and made from natural cotton designed through the ancient time-consuming process of block printing. Additionally the company offers plush toy cushions and coordinating soft blankets made of three layers of organic cotton- all created to be mix and matched and ideal for gift giving. All Naaya by Moonlight quilts and blankets are remarkably cozy, lightweight and packaged in a coordinating reusable tote, the quality reflects the labor of love in which they were made. This month, the company launched super soft 100% organic cotton snug fit pajamas. Currently available in long sleeve in all four of our signature animal motifs sizes 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-5T.
