New York, September 19, 2014— Liberate Health’s adoption rate for its first-of-its-kind, provider-led, patient education and adherence application continues to accelerate dramatically: The number of uses of the app by Liberate Health clinician users surpassed 50,000 year-to-date as of September 1, announced Liberate Health CEO Richard Nordstrom.

Physicians continue to be the largest users of Liberate Health’s app, representing 65% of its rapidly growing healthcare provider (HCP) base. While Family Practice doctors constitute the largest physician group at 25%, OB/GYNs are the fast growing physician specialty in terms of recent adoption, followed by Pediatrics, Pulmonology, Cardiology, Psychiatry and Dermatology.

Studies on point-of-care communications between clinicians and their patients show little previous advancement in health outcomes. American Medical Association research suggests that more than 89 million people in the U.S. have low-health or no-health literacy and that patient comprehension is especially low at the critical point when they are diagnosed by their provider. Research reports that an average patient accurately recalls just 10 percent, of the conversation with their HCP.

Liberate Health’s platform facilitates the enhanced communication between HCPs and their patients which is needed to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.

After the patient visit, an audio and visual recording of the encounter is sent to a secure, HIPAA-compliant portal for the patient to review online at a later time. These reviews, often viewed with caregivers and/or other family members, helps ensure better understanding of their diagnosis and comprehension of any medical direction and instructions.
