Follow on Google News | ![]() 7th WaCA Mining 2014 Set to Take Place in Accra, Ghana from December 9 to 10The event's organizer, Singapore-based Magenta Global, earlier announced that this postponement is in compliance with the Ghanaian Government's proactive steps to contain the spread of the current outbreak of the Ebola virus in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, imposing a three-month ban on all international meetings and events in Ghana. "In compliance with this new ruling, the 7th WaCA Mining 2014 Summit & Expo will now take place from 9-10 December 2014. This decision was taken in consultation with all stakeholders and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources of Ghana," said Maggie Tan, Magenta Global CEO. "As a responsible and reputable global event organiser and partner, we remain committed to delivering a first class event. The later date augurs well for all parties, and we have received stronger support and participation." Also known as WaCA Mining, the seventh edition of this regional event will bring together industry stakeholders such as mining companies, both major and junior, equipment and technology suppliers, financiers, advisers, investors, mining industry associations and governments to discuss the theme of resilience during challenging times. The 2014 Summit boasts a robust line-up of mining industry speakers including: Dr Tony Aubynn, CEO of Minerals Commission, Ghana; Johan Fereirra, Head of Africa & Regional SVP, Newmont Mining Corp and President, Ghana Chamber of Mines; Alfred Baku, Head of West Africa & EVP, Gold Fields Ltd; Daniel Owiredu, Chief Operating Officer & EVP, Golden Star Resources; Dr Greg Pan Guocheng, President & CEO, China Hanking Holdings Ltd; and Li Xinchuang, President & Chief Engineer, China Metallurgical Industry Planning & Research Institute and Executive Deputy Secretary, General China Iron & Steel Association.
