Follow on Google News | Fit Haven Health And Wellness Organization Receives Wal-Mart Community GrantBy: Fit Haven Contact: MubarakahIbrahim Fit Haven Inc. www.FitHaven.org 203-624-9999 mibrahim@fithaven.org Fit Haven Health And Wellness Organization Receives Wal-Mart Community Grant Fitness and Nutrition Education Program to Benefit Residents of the Dixwell/Newhallville Neighborhoods New Haven, CT – The Newhallville/ The $2,500 funds from this grant will contribute towards a program to help teach women how to eat and move to prevent disease and avoid obesity through groups that meets once a week over a 3 month period that includes nutrition education, healthy cooking workshops and exercise sessions. “This area of the city also has a high population of women as head of household and by targeting these women to teach movement, nutrition, and healthy cooking we effect the entire household,”insist Ibrahim. According to its site Wal-Mart “believes in operating globally and giving back locally – creating impact in the neighborhoods where we live and work.” “And this grant certainly lives up to that claim” says Ibrahim who founded Fit Haven to effect the lives of low income women as well as those who could afford to pay for health and fitness services. “We believe that when you understand how movement and whole foods effect everything from the shine of your hair to the possible neuropathy in your toes then women will be proactive in leading healthy lifestyle and taking care of themselves. We intend to empower women with that knowledge.” Fit Haven’s goal is to open a full health and wellness center in the Dixwell/Newhallville area where women can have access to a full range of health and fitness resources and programs.
