Follow on Google News | Expo-APEN 2014 will receive around 100 international buyersAround 100 buyers are expected to attend the most important international fair for Nicaragua’s export offer, Expo-APEN, which begins today in Managua and will open through September 27th.
By: PRONicaragua Additionally, 60 international buyers will join the business meetings virtually. This is the second time buyers can participate virtually in Expo-APEN. In total, around 1,000 business meetings will be held during the event, which are expected to generate US$40 million in purchase agreements. One of the sessions includes a presentation from PRONicaragua which will highlight the country’s recent economic growth, the free trade agreements in force, the main investment opportunities in the agribusiness sector and the available fiscal incentives for investment projects, among other relevant topics. According to APEN, the international buyers participating in this edition of the event come from 21 different countries, of which 40 percent are from Central America and are interested mainly in cereals, jellies, honey, products from the garment industry and processed food; another 33 percent of them is from North America, including Mexico, and are looking for tropical fruits, vegetables, chia, cocoa and sesame; 25 percent of the buyers come from Europe and are looking for dragon fruit, pineapple, mango, special coffees, chia and seafood; and the remaining 1% is from South America. The event will also host the III Marketing and Quality International Congress, which will address the world’s perspectives and latest trends on food commerce, access to international markets and products certifications, among other topics. Expo-APEN is an annual international fair organized in Managua with the objective of creating a promotion platform for the country’s export offer.
