By: outdoorgearlab.com The winners are as follows: Editors' Choice - GoPro Hero 3+ Black Undeniably the front runner of POV products the Hero 3+ black does not disappoint. Chosen for this award due to its superior image quality in a uniquely small and lightweight package, this product has great detail in its quality images and footage. Gear Editor, Tommy Penick reports, "Go Pro is still on top. This product impressed us with its bomber construction and superior image quality for such a little product at a pretty great price. We were pleased with its dependability and how easy it was to use the newest model of the Hero 3+ Black. We were pretty thrilled with its "ProTune" setting which provided excellent sharpness and detail. We also found its wide variety of mounting options extremely convenient." Top Pick - Sony Action Cam HDR-AS100V The Action Cam AS100 has good image quality and stabilization and it has gps and wifi. Penick explains, "The As100 has a built in stabilizer and water housing and we liked its intuitive layout. We were happy with the stabilized footage and that it cut down on post processing time. The image quality was decent but it did not focus well underwater. Its low light performance was impressive as was the dynamic range. We were not impressed however, with its mounting options. We did like the smart phone app that enables one to change settings and view video clips." Best Buy - GoPro Hero 3 White The Hero 3 White is the most affordable GoPro option. Penick reports, "The image quality is less than other GoPro versions but it is durable, comes with tons of mounting accessories and takes good point of view and underwater footage." Best Buy Honorable Mention - Hitcase Pro For IPhone 5 The Hitcase Pro is a case for the iPhone 5 designed to shock and waterproof iPhones for outdoor excursions. According to gear review Editor Dane Henry, "It's the budget version of a GoPro, great for B roll footage if you have an iPhone. It is durable and waterproof and you can add apps that allow you to edit and share footage more quickly and efficiently than any of the other products tested. Some cool features we liked were that the waterproof case is touch sensitive and it has a fisheye lens. Be warned though, it was the heaviest of all the contenders."
