20th Annual Sage Awards Set For October 30

IRVINE, Calif. - Oct. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- The 55+ Housing Council (http://www.55socal.com) of the Building Industry Association of Southern California (http://www.biasc.org) announces its 20th Anniversary celebration of the SAGE Awards, being hosted by Tim Sullivan of Meyers Research.  Celebrating two decades of Shaping Advancements in Generational Environments (http://55socal.com/sage-awards/) (SAGE), the annual awards will honor the innovative professionals, projects and programs that have contributed to the enhancement of life for California residents age 55+. The 2014 “Person of the Year” Laura Archuleta, president of Jamboree Housing Corporation (http://www.jamboreehousing.com/), will also be recognized for guiding the nonprofit, community development company into a leading statewide provider of more than 7,000 homes in over 70 communities. Jamboree further provides responsive resident services and programs that enhance the quality of life for seniors throughout California.

Explains 55+ Housing Council President and Outdoor Dimensions (http://www.outdoordimensions.com/) Vice President Valerie Hardman, “We’re privileged to recognize Laura as this year’s Person of the Year, as she epitomizes the true definition of SAGE. Laura’s commitment to affordable housing spans 25 years, including in the public sector and advocating for high quality residences for seniors, in addition to low-income families and people with special needs.”

Archuleta currently serves as a Distinguished Fellow with the Department of Planning, Policy and Design in the School of Social Ecology at UC Irvine, while on the Board of Directors for the Building Industry Association of Orange County and the Advisory Board for the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco.

Also being honored are SAGE Awards Finalists: Program of the Year – Council on Aging Orange County and “On the Boards” and Projects of the Year: Bungalows at Gavilan by Standard Pacific Homes, Camino Del Rey Senior Apartments by ROEM Corporation, Cotton’s Point Senior Apartments by Meta Housing Corporation, Dunbar Hotel by Thomas Safran & Associates, Laguna Glen by Spieker Senior Development Partners, Perris Station Senior Apartment Homes by Highridge Costa Housing Partners, LLC, Skylar at Playa Vista by KB Home, Solterra Senior Apartments by Affirmed Housing, The Terraces at Rose Lane by The New Home Company and The Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens by ABHOW. Winners for Affordable Care, Age Qualified, Age Targeted Care and On the Boards Projects will be announced at the event.

This year’s highly anticipated awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Celebrations by Turnip Rose in Costa Mesa.
