27th Annual A Taste of Encino Tomorrow

ENCINO, Calif. - Oct. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- In a decision that will cost the organization thousands of dollars, the Encino Chamber of Commerce has decided to “follow their hearts” and eliminate alcohol sales from this year’s A Taste of Encino on Sunday, October 12.

         “We took a look at our sponsors, and our event, and decided to set an example for other Chambers of Commerce in the San Fernando Valley by not offering beer or cocktails at events labeled as Family Friendly,” said Chamber president Atoosa Ring.

         Ring also mentioned that the kind of sponsors the event had made the decision even easier.  “We have two automobile dealerships, Mercedes-Benz of Encino and Universal City Nissan, and two hospitals, Providence Tarzana Medical Center and Encino Hospital Medical Center.  We didn’t think it made sense to offer alcohol to our attendees and promote driving or good health.”   The 27th annual A Taste of Encino will take place at the corner of Balboa Blvd. and Ventura Blvd. and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  It is a free admission event, which features local restaurants, businesses, entertainers and arts and crafts vendors.

         Chamber CEO Diana Duenas shared that as the oldest continuously running food festival in the San Fernando Valley, the Encino Chamber wanted their signature event, A Taste of Encino to continue to stand apart from other events in the area.  “We have never had a situation where a guest was over-served and intoxicated.  But when we open Ventura Boulevard on Sunday evening after the Taste, we all felt we would feel even better knowing that there was zero-chance that anyone would be on the roads impaired.”

In addition to local food and live music, A Taste of Encino will feature a Health and Wellness Pavilion, Home Improvement booths, a kids activities zone feature the crews from the Los Angeles Kings and Los Angeles Galaxy, and many more business booths.
