Follow on Google News | Entrepreneurs need to deploy a follow up strategy to networking eventsCornwall's newest entrepreneurs set up black-tie event to showcase region's diverse business spirit
By: The Launch 2014 Abbi Lunn, founder of Sparkly Arthur, a children's wear company, conceived of the idea after speaking with other entrepreneurs on her business course. Along with the other business start ups taking part, and with the support of business specialist Spencer Hassell the Launch was created as a platform to showcase the incredible entrepreneurial spirit in Cornwall. A total of 20 local businesses have been carefully chosen to take part in The Launch. The black-tie event will feature business ideas from crafts to content creation; Woodland schools to specialist car valeting; and IT support services to wedding filming services. The business owners have pooled together their skills to organise, market and promote the event themselves, with sponsorship from local companies. Commenting on this Abbi said, "without the support of local businesses, The Launch 2014 would not have been possible. We're all very grateful to them". Mr. Hassell was keen to remind his protégés to enjoy the evening, but also begin to build a follow on strategy. He said, "You've worked so hard prior to the event to build the social media campaigns and market the event, you'll love it on the night, but remember to come up with a strategy for how you plan to use this to help progress your business afterwards." On the night, all participants will have the chance to shine in their own unique way, and network with some of the county's more experienced business owners and entrepreneurs. Those showcasing edibles will offer samples of their products such as 'free-from' bakes including gluten free cupcakes from Amazing Cupcakes; organic coconut ice cream made by CocoNuts; and Litebox's special healthy fast food. Sponsored by local businesses such as Social Bronco, Quayside Design and Print, and the Cornish Chough Brewery, who plan to unveil a brand new beer on the night; entrepreneurs will benefit from the opportunity to meet seasoned professionals and contacts to share ideas and advice. Abbi said, "I'm amazed at how it's finally all coming together and really hope it will be the start of many such events for first time businesses in Cornwall". The event is invite only, but local business people are encouraged to request an invitation should they believe they can benefit the various exhibitors and entrepreneurs.
