By: Mad Hatter of Fuquay-Varina Tucker’s Story, written by Bobbie Asad with illustrations by Nguyen Hong Anh, is a children’s book inspired by a real-life rescue. The story’s main character, Tucker, is a German shepherd mix that was abandoned by his previous owners and left homeless, wandering the streets of North Carolina. Avoiding countless dangers, Tucker was fortunate to be rescued by Last Chance Animal Rescue in Coats, N.C. The rescue facility not only saved Tucker’s life but also cleaned him up and started the search for a good home. This is where the story’s writer came into the picture. Asad was able to adopt Tucker and finish his journey of finding a new home. Tucker has touched many lives and continues to bring smiles to everyone he meets. His image was even included in the logo of a local doggy day camp, run by Dog Trotters, in Angier, N.C. His fame has not only benefited him, but has also brought attention to the countless animals across the United States who are in need of rescue or who are currently awaiting adoption. The book is available in paperback and for download on Kindle.
