ORLAND PARK, Ill. - Oct. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Possibly the best SUV to hit the streets over the last decade, the Honda CR-V gets to add another award to its list of accolades as the CR-V was recently named the Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year for 2015. This is in large part due to the recent mid-cycle refresh that sees Honda's crossover increase the long list of enhanced features  and truly stand out from new vehicle inventories at dealerships like Community Honda in Orland Park.

The Honda CR-V was one of 18 brand-new or significantly updated sport utility vehicles considered for the 2015 Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year award, which also included the likes of the BMW X4 and X5, Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, Lincoln MKC, Porsche Macan, and Toyota Highlander.

To be considered for this award, the vehicle must be completely new or substantially upgraded for the 2015 model year. Motor Trend’s staff conducted a three-phase testing process, which included judging the vehicles based on the categories of Design Advancement, Engineering Excellence, Performance of Intended Function, Efficiency, Safety, and Value.

Ed Loh, Motor Trend editor-in-chief, said the judges were impressed by the CR-V's “...extensive list of delightful design and thoughtful engineering improvements.” Loh added that the CR-V is “...efficient, practical, and a joy to drive” and that it “...does virtually everything well.”

The 2015 Honda CR-V comes powered by a 2.4L four-cylinder engine that delivers 185 hp and is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission. The CR-V offers best-in-class fuel economy, with an EPA-estimated 27 mpg city/34 mpg highway fuel efficiency rating for FWD models and 26 mpg city/33 mpg highway on AWD versions.

What's more, Honda offers more models with the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating than any other brand and. with driver-assist technologies such as Lane Keeping Assist and Collision Mitigating Braking systems, it is expected that the new 2015 CR-V will join the list after official safety ratings are released.

Jeff Conrad, SVP and General Manager of Honda Division, American Honda Motor Co, Inc, said that earning this award from Motor Trend “...reaffirms for us that we’re meeting that goal” of delivering class-leading products to Honda customers.
