Since 1964, MELC has developed, provided and advocated for high quality early childhood education and school age programs for children. Programs serving children from 6 weeks to 12 years include infant and toddler care and education, Kindergarten Enrichment, Kindergarten Jr., and school-age enrichment (before and after school). MELC Point Breeze was developed in partnership with Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) in Philadelphia. “We are very excited to be expanding our program to the Point Breeze community,” said Ann O’Brien, CEO. “With the addition of the Point Breeze site, we will be serving over 1,400 children and families each day throughout Philadelphia and Montgomery counties.” The program is currently accepting applications for children between the ages of three (birthday prior to Sept. 1st). Head Start is a federally funded comprehensive early childhood educational program for income eligible families. Head Start programs offer not only a high-quality and structured classroom experience, but also include access to vision and dental screenings, nutritional services, family engagement, parent resources, and assistance with the transition to Kindergarten. Eligible families must meet the residency requirements for the program. Parents interested in enrolling their children at MELC Point Breeze are encouraged to call (484) 704-2484 for more information.
