PYLGSA All Star Teams To Be Honored by City of Yorba Linda

YORBA LINDA, CA, Calif. - Oct. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- PLACENTIA--YORBA LINDA, Calif. – October 21, 2014 – The Placentia Yorba Linda Girls' Softball Association (PYLGSA) has announced that the 10U and 12U All Star teams will be honored by the Yorba Linda City Council on this evening, October 21. The teams are being recognized for their tremendous record of success in the summer All Star season, culminating with their participation in the American Softball Association's (ASA) Western National Championships July 28 - August 4.

The 12U team, managed by Brian Halterman, was the ASA Northern District runner-up and placed 9th out of 44 teams at the ASA National Championships in Roseville, CA. The 10U team, managed by Chuck Hilliard, was the ASA Northern District champion and placed 13th out of 42 teams at the ASA National Championships.

The teams also participated in skills competitions during the weeklong tournament, with the 12U team winning the "Around the Horn" competition, and pitchers Calissa Stapp (12U) and Kaylee Barkley (10U) taking honors in the "fastest pitch" competition.

ABOUT THE PLACENTA YORBA LINDA GIRLS SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION

Established in 1970, the PYLGSA got its start as Bob Etts Softball.  The PYLGSA has since earned a reputation as one of Southern California’s most respected leagues, winning a State championship in 2008, as well as many district championships throughout the years. For girls aged 5 years to 16 years, the PYLGSA is governed by the by the Southern California ASA and adheres to the rules and guidelines set forth by ASA/USA Softball.
