Chicagoland Area Food & Toy Drive Provides Opportunity for Outdoor Christmas Light Installation

CHICAGO - Oct. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Christmas Decor by Arvidson is offering an opportunity for local residents to receive a $1,000 outdoor Christmas light installation in exchange for toy and food donations made during the month of November. Contributors will receive one entry for each item donated, with a limit of five entries per household. There is no limit on the number of donations made and items may be dropped off at any of three Arvidson locations: 3209 S. Route 31 in Crystal Lake, 2222 Rand Rd. in Palatine, or 1800 Lincoln Hwy. in St. Charles.

“We know that our community is made up of compassionate citizens,” said Christmas Decor by Arvidson President, Dennis Marunde, “and we look forward to brightening the home of one of these caring residents for the 2014 holiday season.”

Donations of food will be delivered to the Northern Illinois Food Bank, which is the source of nutritious food, innovative feeding programs, and hope for more than 71,000 people each week. The organization serves 13 counties, including McHenry, Lake, and Kane County. Items most needed include whole grain cereal, canned chicken and tuna, peanut butter, whole grain pasta, canned fruits and vegetables and dried beans. (No glass containers, please.)

Toys will be donated to the Marine Corps. Toys for Tots program whose goal is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. They ask that all toy donations be new, unwrapped toys.
