Test Your Knowledge of Downtown Hendersonville at The First Great Hendo Hunt

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. - Oct. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- The Hendo Hunt is the second annual event created by the local non-profit organization ELEVENTS. The Hendo Hunt is a scavenger hunt running from 10am to 3:30pm on Saturday, November 8th.  The cost to play is only $2.00.

Graham Mew, spokesman for Elevents, said the goal of the Hendo Hunt is threefold: raise money from the $2 event fees for Team ECCO, Free REIN, and Friends of the Mill House; encourage Hendersonville residents to learn more about their downtown area; and boost the Main Street economy.

Profits from the event will benefit downtown Hendersonville's own Team ECCO aquarium and marine education programs; Friends of the Mill House, supporting the restoration of the mill to become an educational facility; and Free REIN, a therapeutic riding program for children and adults with physical, mental, and emotional limitations.

Participants in the Hendo Hunt will be challenged to tie the clues directly to the downtown stores participating in this year's hunt.  Once they have worked out the clues, they visit the story and if they are correct, the store will give them a stamp/sticker on the corresponding tile on their game board.

Every completed game board will be eligible for the prize drawings.  We have over $800.00 of donated prizes including: Flat Rock Playhouse Tickets, an Outback Steak House gift voucher, Biltmore House tickets, a gift certificate to The Green Room, a Mast General Store gift certificate, a Kilwin’s gift certificate, an hour long ride at Shoal Creek Farm, a Tito’s Specialty Foods gift certificate, a WNC Artisan Foods gift certificate, and a one night stay at the historic Claddagh Inn.

In addition, there is a Grand Prize draw.  To be eligible for the Grand Prize, participants will have to complete the game board as well as collect all 18 letters from participating clue stores and unscramble the letters to create the correct phrase.  The Great Hendo Holmes (Hendersonville’s own Super Sleuth Bear) will also be around looking for the clues.  For those lucky enough to see him and get your picture taken with him, they will get an extra point, and, as everyone should know, points mean prizes!

The Grand Prize is a package containing: Two tickets to the Flat Rock Playhouse, one Elevents T-Shirt, one Kid N’Ewe shirt, one gift voucher to the Outback Steak House and a $25.00 cash prize. Total Value over $120.00

Participants will continue to be winners since a number of the stores on Main Street will be offering discounts for the following month, if you bring in your completed game board.  This enables everyone to take advantage of the event and increases the longevity and promotion of what Elevents and the folks on Main Street are doing to help the local community.
