Follow on Google News | Craft Beer Association Fostering New Texas Brewers at Free EventThe San Antonio Cerveceros, San Antonio’s largest craft beer and homebrew community, will conduct its Sixth Annual “Teach A Friend To Homebrew” at Big Hops Gastropub on Saturday, November 1st, 2014.
By: San Antonio Cerveceros In 1999, the American Homebrewer Association (AHA) proclaimed that the first Saturday in November would be “Learn to Homebrew Day”. Throughout the United States, and even internationally, homebrewers would gather together to dedicate this day in educating the public about craft beer and brewing. In 2008, a young craft beer community, known as the San Antonio Cerveceros, realized that Texas, even with it’s strong brewery tradition, was not being a part of “Learn to Homebrew Day”; hence, several Cerveceros developed a small event entitled: “Teach A Friend To Homebrew”. Through the years, the event has grown and attendance has reach between 200-300 people. What has become a small attempt to preserve Texas’ brewing tradition has exploded to a popular yet educational event. With such a rapid growth in craft beer in the United States, the San Antonio Cerveceros are committed to helping this growth by educating everyone in San Antonio and throughout Texas on craft beer and home brewing. This event will focus on homebrewers and professional brewers teaching people how to make beer from start to finish. The event is open to the public and entirely free.
