Emergency treatment for St John Ambulance

PETERBOROUGH, U.K. - Oct. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- St John Ambulance is the most popular volunteer-led charity organisation dedicated to the teaching and practice of first-aid in the UK. It provides free training to all those willing to help make the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

The organisation employs professionals who conduct the training but relies on volunteers who are willing to learn and offer their time, without reward, to help others. One person who does just that is Degafloor (http://www.degafloor.com/concrete-repair/concrete-repair-mortars/degaset-tm/) employee Yvonne Bingley-Bloom, who has been a volunteer with the charity for more than 4 years. Recently, alongside her much valued lifesaving skills, she used her flooring expertise to suggest the fastest possible cure to a long term flooring problem at the Peterborough division of St John Ambulance.

Due to the busy nature of the organisation and frequent use of the ambulance station, the floor at St John Ambulance in Cowgate was showing signs of serious wear, with cracks in a number of places. To prevent the floor from further damage, it required urgent attention and Yvonne was adamant that only a hardwearing and completely waterproof finish such as Degafloor (http://www.degafloor.com/resin-flooring/) would be able to resolve the existing issues effectively and offer a long lasting solution.

After a thorough assessment of the floor, the Degafloor team prepared the area using diamond grinders and vacuumed off to leave a totally dust free surface. The substrate was primed, then coated with a 3mm Degafloor freeflow system (http://www.degafloor.com/resin-flooring/f-system-freeflow/) in dark green with some silver glitter to match St John Ambulance branding and enhance the visual aspects of the end result.

Additionally, the parking bay was marked with two black textured lines to help the drivers manoeuvre with ease and ensure the rest of the area is kept clean and tidy. This effectively means the garage is now not only more aesthetically pleasing, but also a much safer place for the entire crew.

In recognition of St John Ambulance charity status, all materials and installation were supplied entirely free of charge and the innovative solution made a lasting impression on the entire St John Ambulance crew.

Deputy County President Ivan Palmer MBE, K St., JP   said “We are extremely grateful to the Degafloor Team for their professionalism and kind donation of their products and labour for this project. St John Ambulance is a caring charity that is striving to make the difference by teaching and providing First Aid Services to the Community and Industry at large. We derive our funding from those duties and kind donations such as this one. This donation has enabled us to use that revenue to serve the Community”
