American Cancer Society Starts Relay For Life of Doral Season with a Bang

DORAL, Fla. - Oct. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Relay For Life of Doral held its kickoff event at Dave & Busters to begin the season leading up to the 2015 Relay with a bang. Close to 350 people confirmed their attendance to the event that raised over $5,500.00, six months out from the event. The purpose was to recruit volunteers, fundraise, and create awareness for the American Cancer Society (ACS) and its Relay For Life program.

Six new survivors were identified and 6 new ACS Cancer Advocacy Network individuals committed to joining the masses of people around the country to advocate for issues and solutions surrounding cancer and legislation. Event Chairman, Miami-Dade County Commissioner of District 12, Jose “Pepe” Diaz and City of Doral Vice Mayor, Christy Fraga, were in attendance to lead and rally the attendees.

Dave & Busters provided $20,000.00 in food, drinks, and entertainment, which included a magician, balloon artist, photo booth, Marlins Energy Team, and Dolphins Cheerleaders. Also, unlimited game play cards were made available to the participants.

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Doral 2015 will be held at JC Bermudez Park on April 11, 2015 from noon to 10:00 pm. This year’s theme, Carnival for a Cure, will encompass family style midway carnival games throughout the event.
