ARIIX, an international opportunity company that promotes healthy, toxin-free living, is pleased to announce the addition of senior health care expert and entrepreneur Kristi Oakey to the ARIIX Global Representative Team.

A chance encounter on the dance floor of a cruise ship brought Kristi and executive members of the ARIIX staff together, where each recognized in the other a passion for health, wellness and the freedom to build a life you love.

Kristi and her husband John, a local morning news anchor, settled in the Omaha, Nebraska region after falling in love with the simplicity of life and the strength of the community they found there. Kristi had been working in the senior healthcare field and desired to start her own company, one that would bring assisted living services directly into the homes of elderly citizens. She made this dream a reality, founding her own home health company in 2010.

Kristi and her husband began as the proud parents of two sons, but for many years felt like they were missing an additional family member. They wanted a daughter but were unable to have more children. Little did they know, this desire would result in the adoption of not just a daughter, but four young siblings over the space of five years.

In researching adoption in 2009, the Oakeys were inspired to try foster care to see if they were ready to permanently add to their family. Trinity, a 9-month-old baby girl living out of a car and testing positive for narcotics exposure, joined the family. Two weeks later, the Oakeys learned Trinity’s mother was again pregnant, and the Oakeys were asked to take the second child in an effort to keep the siblings together. Unwilling to lose Trinity, the Oakeys brought four-week-old Alivia into the family as well.

Trinity and Alivia stayed with the Oakeys for the next 18 months, when their mother, who had given birth to a baby boy in the interim, asked the foster system to return one-year old Alivia and two-year-old Trinity to her care. Although the girls called the Oakeys Mom and Dad, and recognized them as the only stable, loving parents they had known, the girls were returned to the birth mother.

Unwilling to completely let go, the Oakeys asked if they could continue to be a part of the girls’ lives, and were fortunately allowed access to the girls on weekends for the next 13 months. They were saddened to witness repeated neglect, although they were glad for the opportunity to monitor and report on the girls’ welfare.

Following this and other reports of neglect, the children were finally removed from the birth mother’s home. The Oakeys were asked to take in not only the two girls but their baby brother, Kaleb, as well. Kaleb’s hair tested positive for narcotics exposure, and he was in desperate need of physical therapy and other medical care to assist his return to health after suffering neglect during his first year, including extended periods of time left alone in his car seat.

Three weeks after taking in the children, the Oakeys were informed by the foster system that the birth mother was pregnant yet again. Although they were hesitant at first to take in another child, when the fragile baby girl was born with narcotics directly in her blood stream and nowhere safe to go, the Oakeys agreed she belonged with their family.

“This was a blessing, in a way,” Kristi said. She explained, “The mother had been given too many chances, and that was the final straw that convinced the judge that the children belonged with us. We’ve been blessed with a home and with so much in our lives; we couldn’t let those children stay in that situation.”

Although she finally had the family that she had worked so hard for, Kristi’s health became a temporary casualty in this phase of her life. Suffering from severe bursitis, fibromyalgia and degenerative disc problems, she struggled with weight gain and a sense of inability to keep up with her growing family. Also diagnosed with Epstein Barr virus, Kristi’s physician advised her to integrate a regimen of high-quality vitamins to support her immune system.

To celebrate the adoptions, the Oakeys booked a cruise, where a chance encounter started Kristi on a healthier path. With shy husbands clinging to the sidelines, Kristi and a group of energetic women congregated on the dance floor, and friendships were born that set Kristi on the path to her future with ARIIX. ARIIX Chief Product Officer Deanna Latson was among the dancers, as were two other senior ARIIX Representatives.

“My husband and I had been talking about our finances, planning for a future with six children, and how we could best support their needs,” explained Kristi. “I started talking to Deanna and one of the other women, Woodson Gardner, about what they did, and I just kept asking more and more questions. I wanted to know immediately about this company that had changed their lives so much. I knew this was the answer.

“The Nutrifii products and Slenderiix have changed my life,” Kristi said. “You would never know that I have these illnesses now. They have given me a new outlook on ‘living’ instead of just ‘existing.’”

Now an ARIIX representative, Kristi is helping others build businesses in England, Nebraska, Iowa and Texas, while also integrating health and wellness products into her senior care business. “I work with so many exceptional people and am committed to helping them create the life that has evaded them until now,” she said. “Our focus isn’t on me or my family – it’s about helping that single mom earn an extra $500 a month, it’s about helping that executive to meet his goals for creating a life with more freedom. It all comes back around full circle, it always does.”

“Kristi Oakey’s story is inspiring to us all. Her commitment to her family and to helping others create the healthy lives and freedom they desire is the perfect mirror to our mission,” said Fred Cooper, ARIIX CEO. “We are pleased to welcome her to the ARIIX family, and look forward to accomplishing great things together.”
