East Valley Residents Invited to Support Fallen Fire Fighters and Emergency Paramedics with

“Hard Hat” Fundraiser to Help Build Memorial on Saturday, November 8

MESA, Ariz. - Nov. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- The Arizona Fallen Fire Fighters and Emergency Paramedics Memorial will honor fire fighters, paramedics and wildland fire fighters who perished in the line of duty, leaving behind families and loved ones. Since 1902, 104 men and women have died protecting our cities, towns, forests and highways. These heroes will be memorialized with the first and only state wide memorial, which is being constructed at Wesley Bolin Plaza and is expected to be revealed to the community in October 2015.

Saturday, November 8, 2014 east Valley fire fighters and employees with McCarthy Building Companies are volunteering their time at seven Safeway locations for a “Fill the Hard Hat” fundraiser where shoppers and neighbors are invited to see renderings of the memorial, take photos with historic fire engines and investigate the modern ladder trucks, as well as contribute to the memorial fund.

WHEN/WHERE:
From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. volunteers will be at the following Safeway
Locations:

Guadalupe and Alma School* (1225 W. Guadalupe in Mesa)
University and Lindsay (2710 E. University Dr. in Mesa)
Southern and Val Vista (3622 E. Southern Ave. in Mesa)
Main and Dobson (1960 W. Main Street in Mesa)
Power and McKellips (1855 N. Power Rd. in Mesa)
Baseline and Ellsworth (1901 E. Baseline in Mesa)
Apache Trail and Meridian (3185 W. Apache Trail in Apache Junction)

*Media are invited to the Guadalupe and Alma School location, where ladder trucks, fire fighters and construction team volunteers will be available for interviews about the planned memorial.

Corporate sponsors, private donors and first responders have already committed more than $1M towards the design, construction and maintenance of the memorial. McCarthy Building Companies is donating construction services towards building the memorial. Other donors include the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, APS, SRP, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Cox Communications, SmithGroup, Hensley Beverage Company, and Coe & Van Loo, among others. The memorial fund needs approximately $1.7M for the complete installation and maintenance of the planned memorial.
