Follow on Google News | Wake Plastic Surgery Hosts Three-Day Event to Help Eliminate Child Abuse in Wake CountyWake Plastic Surgery of Cary, NC is hosting its annual fundraising event to benefit harmed children of Wake County. The proceeds raised from the event will be used to purchase books that will help girls understand and respect their growing bodies.
By: Wake Plastic Surgery The unrelenting desire to give back to the community runs deep in the hearts of the Wake Plastic Surgery team. Each year they select a local non-profit organization as the benefactor of their fundraising efforts. SAFEchild was selected because of their outstanding programs and services designed to strengthen families and nurture children while preventing abuse and neglect. Founded in 1993, SAFEchild is the only child abuse prevention agency in Wake County that works directly with families. Through their parent education and family support services, SAFEchild helps build stronger families while creating a healthy, nurturing environment that allows children to thrive. All proceeds raised from this years’ event will provide SAFEchild girls with a special book used to help them understand their growing bodies. Due to a lack of resources, the book The Care and Keeping of You, has historically only been shown to girls. The goal of this years’ event is to provide copies for each girl to own. “In my experience this is the only book of its’ kind to provide thoughtful, age appropriate information about adolescent growth and development,” “We aspire to give a personal copy of The Care and Keeping of You to abused girls so they have an age appropriate developmental resource to refer to as their body and personality continues to mature and blossom,” said Cristin DeRonja, Director of SAFEchild’s Advocacy Center. During the three-day event, Wake Plastic Surgery will be accepting copies of The Care and Keeping of You as well as donations of $10 or more, which will be used to purchase additional copies of the book. In exchange for the donation, Wake Plastic Surgery is offering 20% off all skincare products and service packages including injectables. “Each year our patients amaze us with their generosity during our holiday event,” said Lynn Stoeckel, Office Manager at Wake Plastic Surgery. “We are looking forward to another successful event that makes a positive impact in the community by helping prevent child abuse in Wake County.” For more information visit http://wakeplasticsurgery.com.
