Southern California's Fastest Growing Dog Rescue raised almost $30,000 in 5K Fundraiser

SAN DIEGO - Nov. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- California Labradors, Retrievers, and More held their second annual “Howl-O-Ween” 5K Mutt Run/Walk on Saturday, October 25th at 9 AM. 460 donors raised a total of $29,240 to support Southern California’s fastest growing dog rescue.

The race initiated at Road Runner Sports in Kearny Mesa where more than 210 people and their dogs participated in the 5K.  A highlight of the event was the doggy costume contest. First place was claimed by a Labrador Retriever disguised as a sushi roll. Prizes included an iPad, custom made dog beds, and Road Runner Sports gift cards. Dog food samples and treats were provided by the Honest Kitchen and a bake sale was organized by the volunteers.

“Thanks to all of our awesome volunteers and race participants whose hard work raised the funds we need to enable us to save many more needy dogs and provide them the care and love that they deserve.  I am so honored to work with such a fantastic group,” said Steve Munday, President of Labs and More.

The organization has rescued over 2,800 dogs of all breeds and ages since it began in April, 2011. The group’s Compassion 4 Paws Program provides funds to rescue injured and older dogs left behind at shelters. It also provides emergency care to dogs that are injured, sick and suffering, giving them the gift of a compassionate recovery.
