Follow on Google News | Highly sophisticated MSV “SEAMEC II” major layup repairs completed successfullySEAMEC LTD, INDIA owned MSV. SEAMEC II (GRT: 4503, LOA: 93.00 M, Beam: 18.00 M) called in for drydock repairs during August 2014.
During this call the vessel was accommodated in Drydock No. 01 (30,000 DWT) which is ideally suited to handle this type of vessels. She was accommodated along with Well Stimulation Vessel Samudra Nidhi for similar project duration. The main work scope attended during this call covered all sectors: Overhauling of 01 No. Azimuth Thrusters, 02 Nos. Bow Thrusters, 20T crane overhauling and load testing of 100 Ton crane, Steel renewals around 5 Ton, In-situ machining of Saturation Diving chamber faces 03Nos of main doors and 02 Nos medical locks. Internal Blasting and painting of Diving bell, Port side taught wire winch renewal. Installation of reclaim gas compressor and RO plant, full blasting and coating of the two ballast tanks. Given the strategic geographical location of Colombo Dockyard, it was the best option for the owners as the vessel managed to position itself in the operational waters of Mumbai High with minimal down time. Colombo’s customised service was appreciated by the Owners, as the repair project was re-delivered on schedule meeting owner’s requirements. The project team was headed by Ship Manager Mr. Priyanka Cooray who was well supported by all production departments in redelivering this project. Shipyard mustered all resources and a collective approach helped to provide a high quality service output for this specialised offshore project. Successful completion of this project on schedule, adds another satisfied client to the shipyards offshore Support vessel sector, which is indeed a great collective achievement by all teams involved. The owner’s interests were looked after by Mr. Shailesh B Shetty, Deputy General Manager, Technical, while Capt. Chris Rodricks – Managing Director visited the yard during the project. The sea trials were completed successfully before she sailed out to her operational area in India. The repairs were carried out meeting the Lloyds Register of Shipping class society requirements.
