“Mobile Applications are an incredible way to engage students. The explosion of smart mobile devices has every student wanting to create their own apps. Who can blame them it is fun. Coding or programming is a 21st century digital literacy skill. Arguably one of the most important to insure career success to this generation of learner.  So, let’s show them how they can create their own app.” Spoke Donna Goodman CTe Learning’s Director of Implementation and Training. Donna continues, “The students eat this topic up. Learners meet math; science, engineering, expectations weaved in with technology and yes even art.  There is something in this course to engage every learner. Jeff is my hero for giving his students this career learning opportunity.”

The Mobile Application Design and Development course was released in the US by CTe Learning fall 2013. Through creating 12 apps, the learners go from no programming experience to understanding the basics of coding, design and wisely getting their apps to market.

CTe Learning’s founder and co-author of the Mobile App course Steve Waddell says, “This is the first online mobile application industry certification course available online anywhere to any high school. It makes me want to go back to high school again - the course is that much fun. ”

This course was developed in partnership with a number of app professionals. The course is designed as an introduction to mobile app design and the app industry. The course requires no previous programming on the part of students. Waddell says, "Our idea is to get learners engaged with programming and being creative. This course has over 150 videos, and learners will create over a dozen apps. We designed the course so teachers can offer this opportunity to students with little or no programming background or design and development experience. A chance for high school students to engage with building mobile applications, to see if it’s something they are interested in as a career. The course prepares students to become savvy consumers and users of mobile technology for whatever direction their career path takes them. We even show students how they can give back and create learning apps to help students in their school district. Very real world."
