Basingstoke Freemasons raise £1000 for Charity

BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Nov. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- The fundraising has been the result of this years’ Master of Basing Lodge, W.Bro David Taylor having chosen Basingstoke NeighbourCare as the Master’s charity for 2014.

Receiving the £1000 cheque on Friday 14^th November on behalf of Basingstoke Neighbourcare, Cherry Clayton – one of the trustees said “we are always very grateful for any support that groups or individuals can give our cause, whether it is fundraising or donating their spare time”. Basingstoke NeighbourCare was formed as a charity in 1997 to be a good neighbour to people mostly aged, infirm or disabled in the community. They provide volunteers to assist with basic needs so clients can stay independent in their own homes.

Basing Lodge, formed in 1934 and celebrating its 80^th anniversary next month, is one of several Freemasons Lodges in Basingstoke who meet in the Basingstoke Masonic Centre along Victoria Street. This is not the first donation to be made to Basingstoke NeighbourCare by Basing Lodge. £500 was raised earlier in the year and donated in June during the Basingstoke Masonic Centre open day when the then Mayor, Councillor Dan Putty attended.

David Taylor from Basing Lodge commented “As well as supporting national charities such as the Air Ambulances and Hospices, Freemasons are very keen to raise funds for local causes and Basingstoke NeighbourCare is one such such charity doing a tremendous job in and around the town”.
