Ford has donated $40,000 to DAAA. The Meals on Wheels program also supplies daily meal service to seniors based on available funds. The Ford donation not only goes to supply the food for Thanksgiving Meals, but it provides additional funding for the daily meal service. Additionally, Ford employees and their families will come together on Wednesday, Nov. 26, to assemble freshly prepared meals at Valley Services at 1980 Bagley in Detroit, starting at 8 a.m. ”Each year, 49 million Americans – including 16 million children – struggle with hunger,” said Jim Vella, president of Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “Our continued commitment to DAAA is part of our year-round effort to provide hunger relief and create a healthier community.” Ford Fund and Ford Motor Company have expanded hunger relief efforts all over the United States through a combined investment of $1.3 million in grants, vehicles and other assistance to tackle hunger and homelessness. “Thanksgiving is America’s most-cherished meal, and we want to make sure our seniors have the opportunity to enjoy this tradition,” said Paul Bridgewater, Detroit Area Agency on Aging president and CEO. “Ford Motor Company’s generous donation will help us to be able to deliver fresh, hot meals to 6,000 seniors on Thanksgiving Day. It is not only a donation to DAAA, but a gift to our entire community.” Throughout the 2014 holiday season, Ford will partner with Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center and Feeding America® in a text-to-donate campaign, for which Ford is committed to providing up to $250,000 in matching donations.
