6th edition of Intersolar India 2014 kicks off at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai

CONNAUGHT PLACE, India - Nov. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Mumbai, 18 Nov 2014: Intersolar India 2014, the three day (18^th – 20^th November 2014) solar show hosted by MMI India, commenced today at Bombay Exhibition Centre. The show, which is India’s largest solar event, is recognised as an integral part of the power industry in India by the Associations and the industry at large.

Intersolar India 2014 is one of the largest solar events in Asia. The first day of the sixth edition of Intersolar India 2014, proved that Solar Energy is the need of the hour, no matter how the economy is, with over 200exhibitors from across the globe, like UK, Germany, China, Japan, Singapore, USA, Netherlands, Greece, Spain, Belgium and Korea in addition to India, showcased their products and technologies for the solar industry. Intersolar India will feature various national pavilions, which will give especially small and medium companies from abroad the possibility to present their products and services to the Indian solar market. It was also for the first time that the exhibition witnessed a state pavilion of Madhya Pradesh and they showcased the latest developments and policies in the state which is now considered to be the top runner for solar space considering its achievements in the past one year. Welspun, SunEdison and Urjaas will be the 3 major developers participating inside the pavilion.

The grand inauguration of Intersolar India 2014 was represented by industry dignitaries like Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri, Director General, The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) India, Mr. Riccardo Amoroso, Vice President, EPIA- European Photovoltaic Industry Association, Belgium, Mr. Marcus Wiemann, Secretary General, Alliance for Rural Electrification, Belgium. The summit brought together senior solar professionals from Consulate General of India Frankfurt, SESI, New Renewable Energy Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, VDMA Photovoltaic Equipment, AEEE (Alliance for Energy Efficient Economy), SEMI, IBG (India Business Group), BSW (Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft), EVI (Emergent Ventures India Ltd.), EPIA (European Photovoltaic Industry Association), ARE (Alliance for Rural Electrification) and other private companies from the solar space. Intersolar India 2014 was marked by an award felicitation program that paid tribute and gave further impetus to the innovative power of the industry. The different categories of the awards were Off-grid Solutions, Industrial and Commercial Application, Utility- Scale Project. The companies receiving the award are Tata Power for Utility-Scale Project, Bosch for Industrial and Commercial Applications and Trojan Battery Company for Off-grid Solutions.

Subsequent to the inauguration ceremony, the event had a press conference which housed eminent names likeMr. Markus Elsasser, CEO, Solar Promotion, Ms. Katharina Schlegel, Deputy CEO and COO, Messe Munchen International, besides the ones present for the opening ceremony.

The world is on the cusp of change and India is going to take-off in a big way in solar energy. Human influence on the climate system is very clear. Most of the warming that is taking place since the middle of the last century is extremely likely to be the result of human actions. The more we disturb our climate the more severe, pervasive and irreversible impact.  Fortunately we have means to limit climate change to build a more prosperous and sustainable future. Intersolar India 2014 was recently awarded a certificate by Emergent Ventures India (EVI). The carbon footprint of the event is estimated to be 632 tonnes CO2 based on ISO 14064guidelines and consisted of travel, stay and venue related emission. Inorder to achieve neutrality, EVI on behalf of Intersolar India, has retired equivalent amount of VCS certified emission reduction credits from  the 12 MW grid connected Wind Power Project, Gujarat State, India.
