By: Kiwanis of Greater South Cobb Key Club International (http://www.keyclub.org) The Kiwanis of Greater South Cobb helped create a Key Club chapter at Pebblebrook High School (http://www.cobbk12.org/ Key Club International is a self-governing, student-led organization. Each year, Key Club members elect their student officers at club, district and international levels during club meetings and district and international conventions. The club has 33 organized districts. Each district, normally defined by state or nation, tends to match a similar Kiwanis district and is led by a governor, who is elected by delegates at the annual district convention. The organization is funded by nominal dues paid by every member. Pebblebrook High School’s Key Club members will receive guidance and support from adult volunteers, including Kiwanis of Greater South Cobb advisors, faculty advisors and district administrators. “This club will serve to provide our youth with the leadership skills they need to be successful and engaged citizens within our society,” said Delphine Lagroon, member of the Kiwanis of Greater South Cobb. “We’re thrilled to be able to help launch this important student organization at Pebblebrook High School.” Pebblebrook High Schools’s mission is to model and develop physical, intellectual, moral and social behaviors that can lead to success for all. Their vision is that through the educational process, Pebblebrook students will become productive citizens in a global community. About the Kiwanis Club of Greater South Cobb The Kiwanis Club of Greater South Cobb is one of the newest clubs in the state of Georgia. The chapter was organized and chartered by Kiwanis International in February of 2014. The club concentrates their service on children of the Austell, Mableton and Powder Springs communities. They sponsor a wide range of youth leadership and character development programs for children of all levels and ages in addition to a host of other programs including leadership camps, art and music showcases, mentoring, reading and match assistance for elementary students, field trips, teacher appreciation events, and service projects designed to introduce youth to the value and the joy of serving their school, community, and nation.
