LAS VEGAS - Nov. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (LVSSR) delays its 2014/15-season opening due to unseasonably warm weather conditions and low precipitation. The opening that was originally planned for Friday, Nov. 28, is postponed to a December date that is still to be determined. For updates on LVSSR’S opening, visit www.skilasvegas.com.

“In previous years, we’ve opened as early as October and as late as Christmas, so given the law of averages regarding weather patterns, Thanksgiving weekend is an ideal target date for our opening,” said Kevin Stickelman, LVSSR president and general manager. “We need 72 hours of cold temperatures to produce snow and with a storm system heading our way this Sunday, we will have everything in place for a December opening.”

Stickelman noted that his operations team is doing everything in their power to be prepared for those colder temperatures, including upping their snowmaking resources. “We have additional snowmaking guns being delivered so that when the conditions are right, we can maximize our efforts and produce the ideal conditions that our guests deserve,” he said. “Our new “Bluebird” quad chair lift that replaces Chair 2 is ready to start running and our new snow tubing area will also be ready, which are two greatly anticipated additions to LVSSR.  We look forward to opening and providing our pass holders and guests with a memorable winter recreation experience.”

Still on schedule is the Friday, Nov. 28, Las Vegas premiere of Warren Miller Entertainment’s® latest film, “No Turning Back,” at the House of Blues at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino sponsored by LVSSR. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the film starts at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids age 12 and under (while supplies last). A limited number of military tickets will be available for $15. Proceeds from the show benefit Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort’s Volunteer Mountain Patrol, a non-profit chapter of the National Ski Patrol that provides first responder and emergency services to LVSSR guests who are injured as a result of a snow sports incident. A raffle will be held with prizes from various event sponsors including LVSSR. Tickets are available at the House of Blues box office, any Ticketmaster location or online at www.ticketmaster.com.

LVSSR strongly encourages guests to purchase lift tickets online and in advance at www.skilasvegas.com, to take advantage of savings of approximately 35 percent. A walk-up window rate of $70 is still available. For more information on LVSSR, please visit www.skilasvegas.com.
