Gender Economics Book: Gender Balance Improves Economic and Business Performance

Contemporary Global Perspectives on Gender Economics explores gender and its impact on business, economic growth and policy formation

SYDNEY - Nov. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Gender Economics is an interdisciplinary study of sociology, economics and gender that puts a spin on conventional economics. Building on diversity, this book shows you how incorporating gender balance, especially in creativity and innovation, yields greater performance and profitability in today's complex business environment.

Developing the field of Gender Economics will spark discussions highlighting gender-related issues, particularly women's empowerment and women's equality. Furthermore as societal complexities enter into the conversation, economic policy will move towards economic resilience and growth. Susanne Moore, founder and executive chair of the Centre for Gender Economics and Innovation, said “We need to inform women about the way economic theory, policy formation and business have developed over time and how they work. Using this information, women will identify their own solutions to many barriers that women and minorities still face.”

In the book, Gail Romero, CEO of Collective Changes, a global women's mentoring and leadership program, contributes a case study. Romero draws attention to the important problem that 50 percent of the population, which controls 85 percent of the purchasing power, remains under-represented, under-paid and under-appreciated.  The study identifies key issues and suggests workable solutions to solve the coming job wars.

Moore is the founder and executive chair of the Centre for Gender Economics and Innovation (C4GEi™), and the founder of the Gender Economics Movement. In addition, she is developing the field of Gender Economics and Diversity Economics and has developed the Diversity Program Review Framework (www.diversityprogramreview.com) that measures the effectiveness of diversity programs and an organization's "diversity and innovation capability."

“I believe the concepts of Gender Economics are an effective way of changing the existing conversation about women’s economic empowerment and the benefits of Gender balance in organizations,” said Moore.

Contemporary Global Perspectives on Gender Economics (IGI Global Publishing, 2015, ISSN: 2327-5677, www.igi-global.com) targets professors in gender studies, women's studies and diversity; economics and sociology students; law and policy makers; educational facilities; economic developers; and business consultants and diversity practitioners.
