Follow on Google News | ![]() Learning Calendars Joins The #GivingTuesday Movement On December 2, 2014Learning Calendars participates in #GivingTuesday by launhcing a free monthly giveaway.
#GivingTuesday was created in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y, in New York City, in an effort to help people focus on giving back by creating a holiday to rival Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Since its inception #GivingTuesday has grown into a global movement with 10 international websites, 46 participating countries, and a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme. #GivingTuesday’ According to David Ashe owner of Learning Calendars, "This is an excellent way to kick off the holiday season and a perfect counterbalance to the excesses of Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping." Learning Calendars has created a monthly calendar giveaway to a child who has been nominated to receive one. Said Ashe, "We believe every kid should have a chance to be recognized and get a Learning Calendar. So we created a giveaway for our calendars that does both." In order to nominate a child for to receive a free calendar users just need to fill out a form on the Learning Calendars website. Ashe continued, "This is a great way to acknowledge a child who can benefit from the kind of vocabulary boost that comes with using a Learning Calendar. There are always kids we come in contact with who are brimming with potential, and providing them with some additional support is great way of helping to put them over the top."
