Follow on Google News | Irving Arts Center’s Holiday Open House Shines with Silver and GoldBy: Irving Arts Center IRVING TX (December 3, 2014)— The Irving Arts Center shines for the holidays in celebration of the Peruvian Gold: Ancient Treasures Unearthed exhibition with Silver and Gold: Annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 13, from 12noon-4pm at 3333 North MacArthur Blvd. Richard Huff, Executive Director if the Irving Arts Center said, “We are thrilled to continue to bring the holiday spirit to the Irving Arts Center year after year. In addition to the monumental Peruvian Gold exhibit that has graced our halls since October, we have holiday artwork from students in Irving ISD on display. The holiday season is full of fun, beauty and inspiration. Our Holiday Open House is a chance for families to experience all of those!” Guests can enjoy complimentary refreshments, have a photo taken with Santa Claus and be entertained with the following performances: Lamar Middle School Choir from 12:30pm-1pm Momentum Dance Company/Forcher Dance Studio from 1PM-1:30pm And Irving Chorale from 2pm-2:45pm In the Sculpture Garden, children are invited to take a train ride and make holiday-themed art projects and greeting cards. This year, holiday shoppers have a unique opportunity to stock up on and share treasures from the Irving Arts Center's (http://www.irvingartscenter.com) Gift Shop, which is offering gifts inspired by Peruvian Gold: Ancient Treasures Unearthed. About Peruvian Gold: Ancient Treasures Unearthed Peruvian Gold: Ancient Treasures Unearthed showcases extraordinary objects from Peru’s pre-Inca heritage, including gold ceremonial and funerary masks, textiles, ceremonial ornaments, ceramics and jewelry. In addition to providing visitors with the opportunity to get up close and personal with stunning examples of ancient craftsmanship, the exhibit also explains how the artifacts reflect the customs, beliefs and ideals of the cultures that produced and utilized them. A map and timeline of Peru’s earliest civilizations serve as the starting point for museum visitors. The exhibition continues with the iconography, craftsmanship and ceremonial heritage of these complex societies.
