Psychiatrist Alan W. Newman, M.D., Joins Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO - Dec. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation, part of the Sutter Health network, announced today the addition in July of Alan W. Newman, M.D., as a specialist in psychiatry. Dr. Newman is also the new chair of the Department of Psychiatry at California Pacific Medical Center, where he directs the residency training program.

Dr. Newman is board certified in forensic psychiatry and psychiatry. He received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas  College of Medicine, where he also completed his residency. Prior to joining SPMF, Dr. Newman was an associate professor at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where he directed psychiatry residency, forensic psychiatry fellowship and inpatient psychiatry. Previously, Dr. Newman directed Medical Student Education in Psychiatry at Tulane University Medical School.

Dr. Newman’s clinical interests include treatment of psychotic and mood disorders, dangerousness risk assessment, and suicide risk reduction.
