Follow on Google News | ![]() Department of Colorado’s 2014 High School Oratorical Contest ResultsThe Annual Legion Colorado State Oratorical Contest for High School Students was held on January 3, 2015 at Arapahoe Community College, located at 5900 South Santé Fe Drive, in Littleton, CO.
By: Department of Colorado The winner of the 2014 Oratorical Contest was Charlie Schmidt, a Denver East High School Junior; sponsored by Denver Legion Post1and he received a $2000 scholarship. And, will now move on to the National Oratorical Contest this. Charlie’ Second Place was Jared Klimek, a Home Schooled senior, from Colorado Springs and was sponsored by Colorado Springs Legion Post 209 and he received a $1250 Scholarship. Jared’s speech was entitled: "Our Constitutional Contract" Third Place was Cameron Thompson, a Littleton Heritage High School Junior, sponsored by Littleton Legion Post 103 and he received a $750 Scholarship. Cameron’s speech was entitled: "The Rights of The People" There were three Fourth Place winners and each received a $500 Scholarships. They were: Tim Ford sponsored by Longmont Legion Post 32. Angelo Acebedo sponsored by Broomfield Legion Post 58. And, Faith Underwood sponsored by Parker Legion Post 1864. This year’s contest was under the direction of Department Oratorical Committee Chairman Roger Masse and Vice Chairmen Ed Pietch. They wish to thank all contestants that participated in this year’s contest.
