The two organizations have been working together to make sure this unique coffee shop/adoption center is appropriate for cats and fun for customers. “From the minute I heard about cat cafés, I knew it was something that Portland would love,” says Purringtons Cat Lounge president, Kristen Castillo. “Working with CAT ensures that Purringtons is good for cats and cats lovers alike.” So far, eight cats have moved into Purringtons Cat Lounge, built to house six to 10 felines at once. Similar to CAT’s partnerships with other offsite adoption centers, adoptions from Purringtons will follow CAT's adoption policies, procudures, and fees. “Having some of the Cat Adoption Team’s cats at Purringtons is a fantastic opportunity for people to meet and adopt these cats,” says Karen Green, CAT’s executive director. “Purringtons has made the cats’ comfort and safety big priorities, and we are excited for the café to open.” In addition to housing adoptable cats, Purringtons Cat Lounge will serve local coffee from Extracto Coffee Roasters and tea from Portland’s The Jasmine Pearl, as well as beer by the bottle plus three rotating taps, wine by the glass, and, on the weekends, “Meowmosas.” The grand opening celebration for Purringtons Cat Lounge will take place Saturday, January 24 from noon until 6 p.m. at Purringtons location (3529 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland, Ore). A limited menu will be available in the café, and guests can go into the cat lounge for free 30-minute visits on a first-come, first-served basis. The café will open with full menu, reservation system, and regular hours beginning Sunday, January 25. Purringtons Cat Lounge will be open 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. To ensure that you can spend time with the cats, you can make a reservation for the cat lounge. Entry to the lounge is $8 per hour, or guests can sit with purchase in the café and watch the cats through a large window. For additional details, visit http://purringtonscatlounge.com. The Cat Adoption Team, located in Sherwood, Ore.
