Bitso Launches Bitcoin Merchant Platform

MEXICO CITY - Jan. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Bitso today launched ‘BitsoPagos’, a full merchant solution for bitcoin payments. The platform will allow merchants to easily accept bitcoins from customers worldwide, and optionally convert to Mexican Pesos. Bitso is to unveil its new service during The North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami, FL.

The offering consists of both a complete website integration API for eCommerce, and a point of sale product for high-street businesses.

Bitso CEO, Pablo Gonzalez, commented: “Less than 8% of the population in Mexico are online buyers - largely because existing payment methods are simply not accessible to the majority of the population. A lack of trust with credit card payments (on both sides of a transaction) is also a major issue. BitsoPagos is completely free for merchants, with a 0% transaction commission.

Gonzalez added: “We feel that this is an amazing opportunity for merchants, who can now take payments without losing large portions of their profit to credit card companies and payment processors. The service also broadens their reach to increasingly bitcoin-savy international buyers, and the huge Mexican diaspora wishing to make remittance payments for services at home.”

Bitso has already onboarded a number of merchants, including the Mexican coffee chain ‘The Coffee York’, with more large businesses in the pipeline.

With BitsoPagos, Bitso continues its rapid expansion of Bitcoin services in Mexico, having been first to launch a full order book exchange in the country in April 2014.
