Olympia Track Club Academy Launches Sports Program to Motivate Academic Excellence through Comptetitive SportsOver 50% of 6th-8th grade free lunch students in Ft. Myers Fl have been allowed to fail math and reading for years. Community program will end this neglect.
By: Olympia Track Club Academy “We need to change the culture in youth sports and give accolades to student athletes that are doing well academically as well as on the field. Athletic ability combined with academic excellence opens doors to college and beyond, ending the cycle of generational poverty.” - Maddette Smith, Founder, OTCA Built to Grow. OTCA intends to establish its flagship program in Fort Myers, but has built scalability into the program. Future success with the Fort Myers organization will allow the program to enter new cities and communities. Local businesses will be asked to support the program by providing products and services that students can earn by improving reading and math scores. Ultimately, OTCA aims to help end the disproportionate rates of violence, poverty, and incarceration within at-risk communities. Highlights ❏ Ensures academic excellence by limiting participation to those with qualifying grades ❏ Partnering with local businesses to offer rewards for academic improvement throughout the year ❏ Guarantees above average grades after 1 year of participating in the program ❏ Offers subsidized and free tutoring for low income families ❏ Designed the program to scale once proven The Campaign: Olympia Track Club Academy is running a live Razoo campaign in support of the OTCA Tutoring Program. Backers can help contribute to the success of the program for as low as $10. The campaign, which launched January 2015, will run through February21, and aims to raise $15K.
