ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Jan. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- The number one bull rider in the world, Sage Steele Kimzey is set to join bull riding royalty at the Santa Ana Star Center. Four time World Champion Tuff Hedeman and 1996 World Champion bull rider, Owen Washburn, are leading the way to the Rodeo Construction Bucking on the Rio Grande bull riding to be held on Saturday, January 31, 2014 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  Immediately following the bull riding country music artist Aaron Watson will be in concert.

Four time World Champion bull rider Tuff Hedeman will be in town to oversee every detail of the two hour, action packed adrenaline rush show. The cowboy pro hall of famer had this to say about his upcoming trip to New Mexico. “I always thought and saw myself as a New Mexican because that’s where I was really born and raised and spent most of my time growing up,” he said.  “We produce events all over the country but being in New Mexico is special.”

Sanctioned by Championship Bull Riding, this is the sixth stop on the Road to Cheyenne Tour which culminates with their World Finals at the Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming next July. The CBR’s very popular tournament style of competition starts with 24 riders. The top 12 from that group advance to a semi-final round and tougher bulls. The lion’s share of $30,000 in prize money will be paid in the shoot-out round which features the best four riders of the night. The format appeals to new spectators and established fans alike, because riders challenge as many as three bulls in one performance.

“I really like this style of competition,” said Aaron Pass, from Mesquite, Texas, current world standings leader.  “It can be a test getting on three bulls in one night. But, the CBR brings great bulls and that makes it fun for us.”

Along with Pass, expected contestants include reigning CBR World Champion Sage Steele Kimzey from Strong City, Oklahoma, 2013 World Champion Cole Echols from Elm Grove, La., PRCA World Champion Cody Teel from Kountze, Texas and former CBR world Champions Josh Barentine, Johnson’s Bayou, La., and Clayton Foltyn, Winnie, Texas.

In addition to lucrative prize money, bull riders accumulate points which qualify them for the World Finals, part of the legendary Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration. At the end of the World Finals, the contestant who has the most points will be crowned the world champion and receive a $100,000 bonus. The tour includes stops from Jackson, Tenn., to Las Vegas, Nev., east to west and from Huron, S.D., to Del Rio, Texas, north to south.

The Bucking on the Rio Grande event is part of the CBR Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. Owen Washburn and eleven different bull owners will bring three bulls that are featured during the first two rounds of competition. Those bulls receive points for their performance in the arena. Additionally, the time the bull rider stays on is added to the bull’s score. At the end of the night, the owner with the three highest-scoring bulls will receive $20,000.

Tickets are available through the Santa Ana Star Center’s ticket office with prices starting at $20. A concert will follow the bull riding featuring Aaron Watson.

Watson has accumulated many accolades and critical accomplishments over the course of his career; including selling over 150,000 records, seven #1 singles on the Texas Music Chart, and 4 albums that debuted on the Billboard charts. - See more at: http://www.aaronwatson.com/about.html#sthash.AVJaFCLm.dpuf
