Subaru and Champion David Higgins Team Up To Win the Sno*Drift Rally

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Jan. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Subaru of Hilton Head is cheering on the Subaru Rally Team USA as it competes in Rally America. Champion David Higgins returns to the team in pursuit of yet another Rally America Championship. As a lead driver for Subaru Rally Team USA, he is hoping to start off the season with a win at the upcoming Sno*Drift Rally.

The annual Sno*Drift Rally will take place in Atlanta, MI on January 30-31, 2015. While typical road rally events promise challenging conditions without the usual cleaning and prepping given to delicate sports cars, the Sno*Drift Rally is unique in that it subjects drivers and cars to the roughest, slipperiest, coldest conditions of the Rally races. Both the driver and the co-driver must concentrate completely on safe and speedy driving as they navigate a unique set of driving circumstances. No studded tires are permitted, even though this race over the back roads of Michigan includes snow, ice, snow banks, and other challenging weather conditions.

The Sno*Drift Challenge will be attended by returning Rally America Champion and Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins. Higgins is looking to gain his 15th rally title of his career as he pursues a 5th Rally America Championship in a row. Fellow teammate Travis Pastrana will return to the team later in the year.

The Subaru team races in the Subaru WRX, a rally-designed vehicle built on an Impreza chassis. The WRX features rally-ready enhancements, including all-wheel drive, a turbocharged engine, and stiffened suspension. The vehicle offers up to 305 hp and 290 lb-ft of torque. A wide variety of accessories and products are available to customize the WRX and support the Subaru Rally Team USA.

Subaru has long been a driving force in the Rally America racing series, providing strong performance and support for the enterprise. Rally events take place all across the United States on a variety of uneven, tricky, and challenging surfaces. Rally events are designed to challenge drivers with point-to-point races that exemplify real driving conditions with street-legal cars.
