Algae Production and Networking Workshop Richmond, California April 23-24, 2015 Algae are made into many different products. National Algae Association’ Due to the continued support for more research, lack of government support for the commercial production of algae-based fuels in the US, and low profit margins, most commercial algae producers have given up on algae-based fuels and are focusing on higher margin products like feeds, food, food ingredients, cosmetics bioplastics and sequestration of CO2 in their business models. Since lighting systems are a major factor in growing algae, experts in LED vs. non-LED lighting will be making presentations and leading collaborative discussions on benefits, non-benefits and energy inputs. Commercial harvesting and extraction presentations will be discussed based on commercial production capabilities and costs. What should you expect at an NAA Algae Production Workshop? Collaboration and open, honest conversation about commercial algae production - not the latest, greatest new algae research technology that’s not out of the lab yet or projects that can’t be verified. The algae production industry today is being built by private industry with private investment, not the next research grant. As is said in the investment community, an MBA doesn’t know what an MBA doesn’t know, and neither do algaepreneurs. Collaboration and networking between commercially- NAA as an association is technology neutral. Our focus is on proven technologies that work outside the lab in commercial production. Despite what some people think, in the investment community the algae technologies have virtually no sale or licensing value until they are proven to scale and in commercial production. Our workshops are designed to educate and share information on strains, production processes, equipment and potential markets through our Algae Biomass Exchange for qualified algae buyers and sellers. If you are interested in presenting at our upcoming April 23, 2015 Algae Production Workshop in Richmond, California and have proven technologies that can scale outside the lab, please submit your presentation for review.
