Four World Champions Set to Ride at the 26th T- Rex-S Lufkin Bull Bash

LUFKIN, Texas - Feb. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Mark your calendars, Lufkin is not just the eighth stop of the Mahindra Road to Cheyenne Tour. It is the 26^th time Lufkin has hosted Tuff Hedeman and the top bull riders in the world at the halfway mark of their year-long season.  For twenty-four bull riders it is an opportunity to earn $30,000 and just as important, valuable points needed to qualify for the CBR World Finals where the winner will take home a $100,000 check for 24 seconds of work. We can’t possibly enumerate all of Lufkin’s charm and secrets with a few words and a few pictures, but after twenty-five years, the pace and aura of the T-Rex-S Outdoor Store Bull Bash is noteworthy of a little hype.

After an incredible performance last weekend winning his third El Paso Championship, Craig Jackson, the new number one ranked bull rider for Championship Bull Riding, will be appearing for the first time as the #1 ranked CBR bull rider. Jackson who has been on tour since 2008 is sure to be a crowd favorite as he lives right down the road near Houston, Texas. Jackson, a thirty-three year old veteran bull rider, is being chased by eighteen year old rookie sensation, Wyatt Rogers of Rose, Oklahoma who won $43,000, the single largest purse at a regular season event last fall in Mercedes, Texas. That event win launched his CBR career as a professional and he has not looked back.

 The T-Rex-S Outdoor Store Lufkin Bull Bash is the event that signifies the halfway mark of the Mahindra Road to Cheyenne Tour and one of the favorite venues for fans, riders, contractors and staff. The George Henderson Expo Center explodes with enthusiasm each and every time a cowboy makes the 8 second whistle.  With the entire top ten rankings of the tour at stake on February 21, the 2015 Lufkin Bull Bash will once again be the hottest ticket in town.

Cody Teel, the 2012 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) World Champion is set to defend the Bull Bash title after winning here last year. This event is special to Teel, his hometown of Kountze, Texas is not far and he spent many weekends here in Lufkin as a youth bull rider learning his craft. Twenty- year old 2014 CBR and PRCA World Champion Sage Steele Kimzey, is also set to ride in hopes of gaining points and money needed to defend his CBR World Champion title.

With 30 years of bull riding history on his resume, Tuff Hedeman is one of the most recognizable cowboys in the history of rodeo, but he defers to the young super star that is currently the CBR and PRCA World Champion, as the best bull riding talent he has seen in over 15 years.

“Kimzey is a rare talent who rides fundamentally flawless,” said Tuff Hedeman, the 4 time world Champion who now produces the nationally televised Mahindra Road to Cheyenne Tour events. “He puts forth incredible effort each time he pulls his rope,” continued Hedeman.

Other super stars headed to Lufkin next week are two- time National Finals Rodeo round winning Aaron Pass and CBR rookie Brennon Eldred who also won a round at prorodeo’s last hurrah of the year. Eldred, a Sulphur, Oklahoma cowboy, ignited the crowd a few weeks ago winning his first Tour event in Hobbs.  .

The former 4 time world titled Hedeman, who will be in town next week making final preparations for the extravaganza invites everyone to a meet and greet on Saturday from 10 am – noon at the T-Rex-S Outdoor Store in Nacogdoches, Texas and from 11 am to 1 pm at Cavenders Boot City in Lufkin.

This year’s event is the eighth stop on the Mahindra Championship Bull Riding’s (CBR) Road to Cheyenne Tour which pits the industry’s elite riders against the best bulls in a three round tournament style action followed by a concert featuring up and coming country music artist Josh Ward.

There are three rounds of action and the only way for cowboys to earn a paycheck is to ride better than the rest of the 24-man field.  The field of competition which starts with 24 riders, then 12 and finally 4 in the Shoot Out where they will battle for the lion’s share of $30,000 in prize money.

 In addition to lucrative prize money, bull riders accumulate points which qualify them for the World Finals, part of the legendary Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration held Wyoming next July. At the end of the World Finals, the contestant who has the most points will be crowned the world champion and receive a $100,000 bonus.

CBR has become known for their action-packed performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats and with a new show debuting in Lufkin, this year’s event is set to impress.
