Follow on Google News | Japanese Standards Association Announces New Textile Care Labeling StandardThe Japanese Standards Association announced the new care labeling standard in October 2014. JIS L0001-2014 was developed based on the ISO 3758-2012 care label system and is regulated by the Household Products Quality Labeling Law.
Japanese JIS Textile Care Label System Update In order to harmonize with the ISO international care labeling system, the new care label system (JIS L0001-2014) (http://www.webstore.jsa.or.jp/ New Japan Textile Care Label Standards The new care label standards are now available at JSA as below: Care labeling code using symbols - New JIS standards: JIS L 0001-2014 - Corresponding international standards: ISO 3758-2012 - Existing JIS standards: JIS L0217-1995 Domestic washing and drying procedures - New JIS standards: JIS L1930-2014 - Corresponding international standards: ISO 6330-2012 - Existing JIS standards: JIS L0217-1995 Professional care, dry cleaning and wet cleaning of fabrics - New JIS standards: JIS L1931 part 1~4-2014 - Corresponding international standards: ISO 3175 part 1~4-2010 Main Amendments for the New Textile Care Labeling System (JIS L0001-2014) (A) Standardize the basic washing, bleaching, drying, ironing and dryclean symbols (equivalent to ISO 3758-2012). (B) Add the additional descriptors for washing and dry clean symbols. - A bar under the washing or dry clean symbol means that the treatment should be milder than indicated by the same symbol without a bar; e.g. reduced agitation - A double bar under the symbol describes a very mild process e.g. much reduced agitation (C) Add the temperatures for treatment for ironing and drying symbols. - Dots are used to define the temperature of the treatment with the symbols for ironing and drying. - The definitions of the number of dots for the ironing and tumble drying processes are given in a table within the latest SafeGuards bulletin (http://newsletter.sgs.com/ (D) Add the only oxygen / non-chlorine bleach allowed symbols. (E) Add the professional wet cleaning symbol.
