WATERBURY, Conn. - March 4, 2015 - PRLog -- Tamara L. Lundgren, chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and president, chief executive officer, and a member of the board of directors of Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. (SSI), will be the keynote speaker at the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s 125th Annual Meeting & Luncheon to honor 63 long-term members and outgoing chairman of the board, William B. Pape II and welcome incoming chairman Timothy D. Bergstrom senior vice president with Webster Bank. The 125th Annual Meeting & Luncheon will be held Tuesday, March 24th from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Aria Wedding & Banquet Facility by Villa Rosa located at 45 Murphy Road in Prospect.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business organization representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions. Their members range from small family-owned ‘mom-and-pop’ shops and local chambers to leading industry associations and large corporations. They each count on the Chamber to be their voice in Washington, D.C. In addition to advocating for pro-business policies that create jobs and grow the nation’s economy, the Chamber has a nationally-recognized team of lobbyists, communicators and policy experts working to advance the nation’s business community’s interests.

Lundgren joined Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc., one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of recycled metals in the United States with $2.6 billion in annual revenues in 2014, in 2005 as chief strategy officer. She became the company’s president and CEO in 2008. Since that time, Lundgren has expanded the company’s geographic footprint from 41 facilities primarily located in Washington, Oregon, and Northern California to include 116 operating facilities located along both U.S. coastlines as well as Alaska, Hawaii, Western Canada, and Puerto Rico. Prior to joining SSI Lundgren was an investment banker, lawyer, and professional board member with 25 years of experience in the United States and Europe. She graduated from Wellesley College with a B.A. with honors in 1978, and received her law degree from Northwestern University School of Law (J.D., 1982).

Currently, Lundgren is also a member of the board of directors of Ryder Systems, Inc., Parsons Corporation, and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Portland Branch. She has been a member of the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and its Executive Committee since 2010. She is a member of the Committee of 200, the international organization of senior women business executives, and the Business Leadership Council of Wellesley College.
