THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - March 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Long-time Conejo Valley resident and Conejo Recreation & Park District Board of Director George Lange is the 59th Annual Conejo Valley Days (CVD) Grand Marshal.

Lange and his family have been active in Conejo Valley Days since his family moved to Thousand Oaks in 1965. His young children took part in the CVD children’s parade back then, his wife, Judy, helped judge entries in the annual CVD parade and, as a Kiwanis member, Lange was involved in the parade and CVD site activities.

“It is a special honor to be selected as CVD grand marshal. Conejo Valley Days brings out the best of our community,” says Lange. “CVD is a place where we can all come together to share good times with family and friends. I’m excited to be involved. Come experience your community at your Conejo Valley Days!”

Lange has served on the Conejo Recreation & Parks District board since 1990. During his tenure, he has been board chair several times and was responsible for fiscal and physical management of area parks, recreational facilities and trails/open space. Under his direction, the park district acquired and preserved the historic McCrea Ranch, added parks, sports fields, equestrian facilities and the Goebel Senior Center. Besides his volunteer work with Kiwanis (where he was named Kiwanian of the Year) Lange has given of his time and expertise to numerous nonprofit groups throughout the community.

“George’s experience and insight are welcomed,” says Mary-Catherine McBride, CVD’s general chair. “We’re always seeking ways to improve CVD. His input will be very helpful. He’s a wonderful ambassador for CVD.”

Conejo Valley Days takes place this year on May 7 through 10 at Conejo Creek Park South (Janss Rd., exit off the 23 Freeway). The four-day festival will include hands on family fun from the Conejo Valley Gem and Mineral Club as well as the running of the 3rd annual Outhouse Races and a slot car derby. In addition, kids can participate in a Mother's Day Essay Contest (http://www.conejovalleydays.us/cvd-mothers-day-essay-cont...) and Read & Ride literacy program where students can read books to receive free ride tickets. More activities and entertainment will be announced as the festival grows closer, including ride wristband days.

The Pet Central Education and Welfare Foundation is the nonprofit partner for this year’s Conejo Valley Days. CVD helps raise approximately $200,000 each year that is recycled back into the community through the over 30 non-profits who help bring the event to life.

CVD entry tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6 through 12 and free for kids 5 and under.
