VansForVets.Org Receives Cash-Grant Award from The HomeDepot Foundation

HICKORY, N.C. - March 22, 2015 - PRLog -- ~ Executive Director, Dr. Joe Resnick, has received official notification from the HomeDepot Foundation of Atlanta, GA that VansForVets.Org has been awarded a cash grant under the HomeDepot Foundation's 2015 Grant Cycle.  The award was based on Dr. Resnick’s prior submission in 2014 for a grant request so that weatherization and home improvements could be made at homes where disabled veteran families live in the Western North Carolina Foothills Region.  VansForVets.Org received a similar grant from the HomeDepot Foundation in FY 2013 and used those funds to help make home improvement and to weatherize more than 100 homes in VA, NC, PA and MD.

The grant will enable purchase of items used to weatherize residences in the Greater Foothills Region of North Carolina occupied by disabled veteran-families. VansForVets.Org Volunteers will use items, e.g., hand tools, painting kits, yard tools, weatherization kits and fasteners at a number of homes in the Foothills Region over the coming months.  Projects are planned in Hickory, Lenoir, Morganton, Granite Falls and Metro-Asheville areas.

Dr. Resnick said, “I was thrilled and absolutely delighted to learn that VansForVets.Org was selected to participate in the HomeDepot Foundation’s initiatives to help our Disabled Veteran families.  With this award we’ll be able to help a lot of people get ready for next winter and we’ll be making a lot of new friends in the process.  We, at VanForVets.Org, are very grateful to the HomeDepot Foundation for this generous show of support for Disabled Veterans everywhere”.
